I have known Joe since 2000 when I began taking Blues/Jazz Guitar lessons. I had been playing guitar for many years. I took lessons with Joe on and off for next 5 years. His ability to teach complex chord melody in an approachable way was amazing. He never made you feel inferior, always showing alternative ways to play the material we were working on. My playing jumped light years and continues to progress to this day because of his instruction and approach. It has been a number of years since I took lessons from Joe, But his approach was to teach how to fish, not just giving you the fish. His brilliance on the instrument is only surpassed by what a great Human Being he is. It maybe several years since we've seen each other, but he will always make you feel that,it was Like yesterday. By Far my favorite guitar Player in the Valley. If you are serious about playing guitar, do yourself a favor and call Joe now.

I am so impressed with what my son has taken in about music theory. I forgot how much great jazz players like Joe can offer as far as chord structure and keys and improv ideas. Classical players also learn theory, but it is integrated into the jazz groups in a seamless fashion and my 14 year old now has as much theory background as many college freshmen! Joe is an outstanding teacher who brings ease and joy to all aspects of learning.

Joe Belmont is a multi-talented master musician with a diverse background who uses his excellent communication skills to share the gift of music with guitar players of all levels.
My son started taking lessons with Joe about 4 years ago as a middle school student that had been playing for about 4 years. He is now preparing to apply to jazz music performance conservatories and universities next year. From the initial lesson to the lessons now, the lessons have evolved over time with with my son's growing guitar and musicianship skills. During a lesson Joe is very much in tune with his student and will adapt the lesson for example go deeper into a challenging riff to get it or lighten up and jam after working hard on sight reading.
I have found that Joe teaches music to the individual as to their skills and interest. Joe has performed as classical guitarist, jazz, rock, blues, and country bands. He is able to relate to any student interests. He is also a very accomplished composer too. Over the years, we have enjoyed Joe's band's performances many times.
Joe's approach is about being a total musician, he encourages finding your individual playing style/voice. At the same time, Joe makes sure that the student has the proper foundation in which to build on. Keeping time was an area in which my son to improve. Joe worked with my son's learning style to improve that skill and advancing his strengths.
I have found Joe to be well prepared each week for a lesson that was unique for my son's lesson. Joe was very good about short term and long term planning. As my son gained music knowledge, Joe built music theory into the lesson, more complex rhythms, challenging songs to built repertoire. Joe really encouraged my son to get the right sound when paying in different styles by using the guitar to sound different and adjusting the amp. Joe is a knowledge about gear but not someone who goes overboard acquiring gear just to have. There must be a purpose.
Joe is not only a gifted musician he is also a talented effective guitar music teacher/mentor. Joe has prepared my son to be the best guitar musician using his unique skills. We travel an hour one-way each week to take a lesson and it has been worth every trip to study with this fine master of guitar and music.

I just started taking lessons with Joe about two months ago, and already we have developed a great rapport which helps a lot with my motivation and learning! He is always focused on what I want as a student and as a musician, and is excellent at encouraging disciplined instrument study as well as fostering a great environment to develop personal musicianship.

I took guitar lessons from Joe Belmont for several years. Joe is insightful, super talented and cared about my progress as a student. I am now playing electric guitar on a gospel church, and using many of the techniques that Joe taught me. Thank you Joe Belmont!

I have worked with Joe at several different times in my life as an adult learner on the guitar. He is so versatile in his guitar skills, able to help me in whatever style or level I am at. As an added bonus, he's just such a great guy to hang out with.

I took lessons with Joe for 4 years when I was in High School. I cherish the time spent during those lessons. We're still very close and occasionally play shows together whenever time permits. I've been playing music professionally since 2005 and I can definitely thank Joe for his guidance me in my younger years which helped my lifelong musical journey.

Joe is an excellent teacher. Besides being incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, he valued my opinions and pushed me to find my own voice and style. One of things I most admire about Joe is his open mindedness regarding playing and learning music. This has always been important to me and now is an essential part of my musicianship thanks to his teachings. Students looking to improve not only their skill on the guitar, but their musicianship as a whole would benefit from lessons with Joe.

I've studied music with Joe for 11 years now and he also taught my daughter. He's an amazing musician but maybe a better teacher. He knows music theory like the back of his hand but it's his ability to explain it and get you to understand it and work with it that's great. He'll take a tune your playing and open your eyes to whats going on in that tune and give great ideas on how to practice too. You can practice or practice effectively. Joe gets you to do it effectively. Combine that with a fun , easy going guy and you have a great teacher.
